How to run a product sampling campaign in UAE supermarkets and malls
Sampling gets a product into a shopper's hand at the moment they are deciding what to buy. It works when the stand, the script and the stock are planned together.

Short answer
Product sampling gives shoppers a free taste or trial of a product, usually through a stand in a store or mall, to encourage a purchase.
Choose stores and hours with data
Pick stores where your product is on the shelf and where your shopper actually buys. Ask the retailer for its busiest days and hours, and check the stand location with the store manager. A stand next to the product shelf beats a better-looking one in a quiet corner.
Design a stand that does one job
The stand should show the brand, the product and one message, and give the promoter a clean place to prepare and serve. Allow space for stock, waste and hand hygiene where food is involved. Retailers set size limits for stands, so confirm dimensions before you print.

Write a script of three lines
A promoter has seconds before a shopper moves on. Keep the script to three lines: offer the sample, say why this product is different, tell the shopper where it sits on the shelf. Train the team to answer the three questions shoppers ask most, and to say so when they do not know an answer.
Food safety and approvals
Food sampling in Dubai involves Dubai Municipality rules, and the approvals depend on where and how you sample. Sources that describe the requirements often disagree on details such as training and health cards, so do not rely on a blog. Confirm the current requirements with the retailer, the venue and Dubai Municipality before you book the dates. If the sampling comes with a prize or a discount offer, a promotion permit is also needed, as set out in our promotion permit guide.
Plan stock for peak hours
Count samples per hour at peak and plan stock with a margin. Running out in the busiest hour is the most common failure. Agree delivery times with the store and keep a spare box on site.
Report what happened
Ask for daily photos, the number of samples given, the number of conversations, units sold where the retailer shares data and shopper feedback. Use the numbers to adjust the next week. Our guide to measuring a brand activation sets out the ratios to use.
