How to write a brand activation brief: a template for UAE campaigns
A clear brief gets you a better proposal, a fairer quote and fewer surprises on the day. These are the twelve headings we ask for when a brand briefs an activation in the UAE, with notes on what to put under each.

Short answer
A good activation brief covers twelve points: the goal, the product, the audience, the venues, the dates and hours, the format, the budget, the approvals, the staffing, the content, the measurement and the contact person. Send them in one document and a UAE agency can quote the same day.
The template
- Goal. One main goal: trial, awareness, leads, entries or sales. If there are two, rank them.
- Product and message. What is the product, what are the three points every shopper should hear and what must the team never claim?
- Audience. Who do you want to reach? Families, young professionals, trade buyers? Which language mix?
- Venues. Stores, malls or sites, with chain names and emirates. If you do not know yet, say so and say how you will decide.
- Dates and hours. Start and end dates, days of the week and daily hours. Note fixed dates such as a launch or a holiday.
- Format. Sampling, kiosk, mascot, game, vehicle, exhibition stand or open to suggestions. Say what you have tried before.
- Budget. A range or a ceiling. Without it, agencies guess, and quotes cannot be compared.
- Approvals. Does the campaign include a prize draw, a discount, food sampling, alcohol, outdoor space or a vehicle? Each has an approval with its own lead time.
- Staffing. Number of promoters, hosts or supervisors, language, gender or uniform preferences and any training you will provide.
- Content. Do you need photo, video or social posts from the activation? Who approves them?
- Measurement. Which numbers matter, how often you want reports and whether the retailer will share sales data.
- Contact and decision-making. One person with authority to approve designs and changes, and the time they need to respond.
Common gaps
- No budget given, which makes quotes impossible to compare.
- Dates that move after the permit has been filed.
- Approvals discovered late, such as a prize element added to a sampling stand.
- Several approvers who disagree on the design.

What you should get back
A good proposal restates your goal, proposes a format and a stand design, sets out the staffing plan and approvals with dates, shows a line-by-line quote and says what will be reported. If it cannot do these, ask for them. Read what drives the cost of a brand activation in Dubai to compare quotes.

Questions
What is a brand activation brief?
A brand activation brief is a document that tells an agency the goal, product, audience, venues, dates, budget, approvals, staffing and measures for a campaign.
What should I include in an activation brief?
The goal, product and message, audience, venues, dates and hours, format, budget, approvals, staffing, content, measurement and a contact person.
Do I need to give a budget in the brief?
Yes. A budget range or ceiling lets agencies propose within it and makes quotes comparable.
How long should a brief be?
One or two pages is enough if each of the twelve points is covered.
