Dubai Shopping Festival 2026-27: how brands can plan an in-mall and in-store activation
The Dubai Shopping Festival is the longest retail window of the year in the emirate. It is also one where stand space, approvals and promoters run short, so the plan needs to start now.

Short answer
The 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, a period of 45 days, organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. Brands that want to run a promotion with prizes should apply for approval at least 30 days ahead, and book stands and promoters now.
What the festival is
TradeArabia reported on 14 October 2026 that the 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival will run from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, with 45 days of citywide retail deals, limited-time offers, mall experiences, raffles, concerts and live entertainment. It is organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). The announcement names festival programmes such as DSF Nights and DSF Auto Season but does not list participating malls, so check each venue directly.
Where a brand fits
The festival is run by retailers, malls and the organiser, and brands take part through them. The usual routes are:
- A stand or kiosk in a participating mall, booked through the mall's leasing or marketing team.
- An in-store promotion with a retailer, such as sampling, a gift with purchase or a display, agreed with the category buyer.
- A themed set for the season, built to fit the mall's decor, with a photo moment for families.
- A digital layer, such as a scan-and-win game or receipt upload, that carries the campaign past the stand. Read how these work in our scan-and-win guide.

Approvals and dates
A raffle, prize draw or discount campaign needs approval from the Department of Economy and Tourism, and our rule of thumb is to allow at least 30 days. With a start date of 4 December, an application filed in the third week of October is already near the limit. The mall will also want artwork, a build drawing and a contractor list. See our promotion permit guide and event permit guide.
A crowded calendar
The festival opens a few days after White Friday on 27 November and overlaps UAE National Day on 2 and 3 December. The school winter break runs from 14 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, which shifts family traffic through the middle of the festival. Our UAE activation calendar shows these dates together.
Several brands will ask for the same weekends and the same promoters. Book teams and builds early, and keep a back-up plan for stand space.
Staffing and stock for 45 days
A long window tires teams and empties stock. Plan shifts so no one works every evening, rotate promoters between venues, brief a supervisor on restocking and keep a reserve of trained staff. Our guide to hiring promoters covers the briefing, and the one on part-time promoter permits covers the paperwork.
What to measure
Agree the numbers before the first day: samples given, units sold where the retailer shares them, game entries, leads and photos from each site. A long festival lets you compare venues and weeks, so move the stand to where it works. See how to measure activation ROI.
